Static Dress Berkeley Concert reviews
Pay for a cd, not the concert
Our seating was on the Right side of 4 plastic chairs and a table- a few feet left of center stage. No visual obstructions. Bar and food served but SLOW service. You may want to bring binoculars for up close viewing as the band didn't use the visual screens for close ups - which would have been nice.
The band opened with new time favorites and closed with old time favorites with a few songs from their old CD in between. The guitar and drum sound were fantastic, but the vocals were drowned out. First problem was the sound... Additionally the performance was sterile and impersonal. The band seldom "engaged" audience. This concert failed.
Too bad it was on their dime and their time. I don't know, maybe they had an on night. Static Dress just did "their job". No heart or soul. They played their music. That was it.
I hope for something more when I pay for a concert than what I get when I turn on my radio or cd. Our experience with the Doobie Brothers was not like our experience with Carole King and James Taylor. We recently saw them in concert at the Honda Center - our seats were in the nose bleed section, but I can tell you the sound quality was quality. They enjoyed their fans as much as their fans enjoyed them! And the interaction they had with the audience was truly heart felt!
